Impact Method
The high-school years are often the most meaningful, exciting, confusing , and exhilarating years of our life. They are filled with tremendous opportunities, changes, transitions, and challenges. The High School Ministry at Peninsula Bible Church/Cupertino is aimed specifically at having an impact on teenagers in these very pivotal years. Whether you are a high school student, a parent, or someone interested in making an eternal difference in the lives of young people, we hope as you read this, you will prayerfully consider how you can participate in this ministry. Jesus called those in His care to follow Him, and He equipped them for ministry by discipling them. Jesus purposefully lived out His life before the eyes of men, and consistently showed that people took precedence over any program. The long-term effectiveness of Jesus' public ministry came not from programs that would fade once He was gone, but from investing His life in disciple-producing disciples whom the multitudes would follow until He returned. In following Jesus' example, our focus is not on a "program', but on building personal relationships with students and investing in their lives through discipleship.

Goal Model
The goal of our ministry is to faithfully serve God by supporting the parents of our youth to present every student mature in Christ. It is our intention to nurture and equip students to be Christ-like in a loving and accepting atmosphere that is relational, unconditional, and evangelical. We pray that every student who participates in our ministry will know the love, grace, peace, and hope of God as they live an exciting and abundant life through Jesus Christ. Our hope is to win the secular student to Christ, build the convinced student in faith, and equip the committed student to do the work of the ministry. We desire to lead students to an intimate and saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, and to disciple them to maturity in Him as they exercise their spiritual gifts in building up their fellow believers and leading their peers to faith in Christ Jesus. We recognize becoming spiritually mature is a life-long process, and by the grace of God we seek to encourage growth in their faith and worship of God, and in their knowledge, conviction, and obedience to His Word. Our model for ministering to high school students is patterned after the ministry of Jesus.  The Apostle Peter summed up Jesus' ministry stating, "he went about doing good".  Matthew tells us exactly how Jesus went about doing good, "going about all the cities and the villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness.  And seeing the multitudes, He felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and downcast like sheep without a shepherd".  We intend our ministry to high school students, like the ministry of Jesus, to be characterized by love, compassion, and conviction.  It is our hope that our preaching will summon teenagers to repent and to believe the good news of the kingdom of heaven, that our teaching will illuminate their hearts and minds on how to relate rightly to both God and others, and that we may bring a healing touch to their physical, emotional, and spiritual maladies.
Efficacy Dynamics
We recognize that all believers are uniquely gifted by the Holy Spirit to function together for the mature growth of the body into Christ. Our High School Ministry is a 'team' effort. The students and staff, equipped for the work of the ministry, are expected and encouraged to build up one another in love by discovering and exercising their spiritual gifts. The primary source for ministry to teenagers is to be their parents, and we hope to encourage and support them in this very difficult and vital role. We understand that the effectiveness of our ministry is determined not by our own self effort, but by the sovereign will of God. We are God's chosen vessels and it is by faith that His work is accomplished through us. We know we must rely on prayer and the power of the Holy Spirit for any spiritual change in the lives of teenagers. We gain the heart of God as we allow Him to speak to us through our prayer and meditation on His word, and it is His Holy Spirit that fills us with the power and conviction to speak and live out the truth before the eyes of our students.
