Corporate Worship

Call to Worship: Psalm 145:3-8 (NIV).

Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise;
his greatness no one can fathom.
One generation will commend your works to another;
they will tell of your mighty acts.
They will speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty,
and I will meditate on your wonderful works.
They will tell the power of your awesome works,
and I will proclaim your great deeds.
They will celebrate your abundant goodness
and joyfully sing of your righteousness.
The Lord is gracious and compassionate,
slow to anger and rich in love.

Great is the Lord #31. Words and Music: Michael W. Smith and Deborah D. Smith. © 1982 Meadowgreen Music.

All Creatures of Our God and King #64. Words: St Francis of Assisi. Tune: Lasst uns Erfreuen.

All creatures of our God and King,
Lift up your voice and with us sing
Alleluia, Alleluia!
Thou burning sun with golden beam,
Thou silver moon with softer gleam,
O praise Him, O praise Him,
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

Let all things their Creator bless,
And worship Him in humbleness,
O praise Him, Alleluia!
Praise, praise the Father, praise the Son,
And praise the Spirit, Three in One,
O praise Him, O praise Him,
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

And all ye men of tender heart
Forgiving others, take your part
O sing ye, Alleluia!
Ye who long pain and sorrow bear
Praise God and on Him cast your care,
O praise Him, O praise Him,
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

Alleluia! Sing to Jesus #233. Words: William Dix (1837-1898). Tune: Hyfrydol by Rowland H. Prichard (1811-1887). Public domain.

Alleluia! sing to Jesus!
  His the scepter, His the throne;
Alleluia! His the triumph,
  His the victory alone;
Hark! the songs of peaceful Zion
  Thunder like a mighty flood;
“Jesus, out of every nation
  Has redeemed us by His blood.”

Alleluia! Bread of Heaven,
  You on earth our food, our stay!
Alleluia! here the sinful
  Flee to you from day to day;
Intercessor, Friend of sinners,
  Earth’s Redeemer, plead for me,
Where the songs of all the sinless
  Sweep across the crystal sea.

Alleluia! not as ophans
  Are we left in sorrow now;
Alleluia! He is near us,
  Faith believes, nor questions how:
Though the clouds from sight received Him
  When the forty days were o’er,
Shall our hearts forget His promise,
  “I am with you evermore”?

Scripture: Revelation 7 (NIV).

Benediction

May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. (Heb 13:20-21 NIV)

The numbers given after some of the titles refer to the pew hymnal used at PBCC, The Hymnal for Worship and Celebration (Waco: Word, 1986).
